The Fountain, Ashurst

Our first Womble walk took us 3.5 hours and a total distance of 6.3 miles. It was quite chilly and boggy but we were well clothed and the weather was sunny and bright, hopefully our pictures show just how beautiful the West Sussex countryside was, and how full was the river Adur! Half way around our footpath became a lake for as far as we could see so we turned back to re-trace our steps.

We were very pleased to eventually get to the Fountain pub in perfect timing for our pre-booked table, and we toasted our achievement while enjoying a fireside roast dinner and beer.

The Fountain really is a lovely pub, suggest a visit if you’ve not been before. Just us two Wombles on this trip: Mike Gibbons (Uncle Bulgaria, old and wise) and Kate Honey (Bungo, bossy and excitable).
